Description
Editors are trained to work with words, but sometimes words alone don’t tell the story. In graphic novels, that’s doubly so, where artwork, stage directions, paneling, and lettering work with words to carry the plot and characters from opening to final panel. This two-week class, taught by a traditionally published graphic novelist, shows what the graphic novel writing process looks like from start to finish and where editors and proofreaders fit into the mix. We’ll discuss navigating the switch from book editor to script editor or proofreader; using art and script together to keep characterization and plot consistent; working with unfinished scripts or artwork; and following industry conventions.
