Sunshine and book lovers! What could make for a more beautiful weekend? The EFA had a first-time presence at the 24th annual LA Times Festival of Books (April 13-14). Drawing an estimated 150,000 people, this is LA’s largest book event. The EFA booth was run by LA Area chapter members Helga Schier, Tammy Ditmore, Lorraine Martindale, DeAnna Burghart, and Janet Long. We spoke with nearly 120 interested writers and editors. There are quite a few freelance editors in the Los Angeles area who were unaware of the EFA but very interested in the organization. Among the students and recent grads strolling the USC campus, where the event was hosted, were many budding proofreaders and aspiring editors. We gathered 43 emails and have sent these a special invitation to our next chapter meeting.
